Admission requirements for Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU)

Everything you need to apply to EMU: documents, deadlines and conditions for undergraduate, English proficiency and graduate programs.

Undergraduate

for international students

Basic requirements
  • Secondary school certificate (Higher Secondary School Certificate / Intermediate Certificate or equivalent) + transcript (grades)
  • Documents must be certified and, if necessary, officially translated into English
Accepted certificates
  • High School Diploma, GCSE, Higher Secondary Certificate, SAT, WAEC, WASSCE, NECO, JAMB, Baccalaureate and equivalents
Application documents
  • Copies of the certificate and transcript
  • 1 passport-size photo
  • Copy of passport (or birth certificate)
  • Proof of English proficiency (if available)
Admission
  • Applications are accepted twice a year (fall and spring semesters)
Transfer students
  • Minimum CGPA 2.00 out of 4.00
  • Not dismissed from the previous university
  • Usually admitted for semesters 2–5

Master's and PhD (Graduate)

  • Master's: bachelor's degree + faculty requirements
  • PhD: master's degree
  • For Turkish citizens (thesis programs and PhD): ALES ≥ 55 (or GRE Math ≥ 610 / GMAT ≥ 450)
  • Applications are accepted year-round (best before the end of August / December)
Documents
  • Official transcript (Bachelor/Master) + grade conversion table if CGPA is not on a 4.00 scale
  • Certified copies of diplomas (+ English translation)
  • Proof of English proficiency (for English-taught programs)
  • 3 recommendation letters (not required for EMU graduates)
  • Other documents required by the faculty

English language requirements

for English-taught programs

  • Applicants whose first language is not English take the EMU English exam or provide an accepted certificate
  • Direct exemption from the preparatory program: IELTS 5.5 · TOEFL iBT 65 · PTE Academic 42 · SAT (Reading & Writing) 430
  • Medicine and Translation & Interpreting: IELTS 6.0 · TOEFL iBT 72

  • English certificate (IELTS / TOEFL) or readiness to attend Prep School
  • For Medicine/Dentistry/Pharmacy — additional requirements
Step 03

Application submission

  • We complete and submit the online application to EMU
  • We attach the full set of documents
  • We communicate with the university's admission office
  • We track the application status and keep you informed
Step 04

Receiving the acceptance letter

  • After approval you receive an official letter of admission
  • Review takes 2 to 6 weeks
  • We help verify the details in the letter
  • We confirm your place at the university
Step 05

Visa and transfer arrangements

  • We help obtain the student visa / TRNC residence permit
  • We prepare the document package for the visa center
  • We arrange transfer from Ercan Airport
  • We advise on the flight and belongings
Step 06

Accommodation and adaptation

  • We meet you at the airport in person
  • We check you into EMU dormitories or a private apartment
  • We help with a SIM card, bank card, transport
  • We run an orientation: your first days in Famagusta
