Secondary school certificate
The secondary school certificate is the main document for applying to EMU. It confirms that you have completed 11 grades of school (or the equivalent). Requirements:
- A copy of the certificate — notarized
- Transcript — a grade report for all grades (attendance sheet)
- English translation — notarized translation of both documents
For students from Russia: you can order a duplicate certificate via the Gosuslugi portal or contact your school. For CIS countries — contact the school or the Ministry of Education.
International passport
An international passport is required to apply to EMU and later to get a residence permit. Requirements:
- Valid for at least 1 year from the planned date of entry
- At least 2 blank pages
- A scan of the first page (with photo)
Processing time in Russia is 1–4 months (depending on the region). We recommend applying in advance. A biometric passport is valid for 10 years.
English language certificate
Most EMU programs are taught in English. To be admitted to the main program, you need one of the following certificates:

No certificate? You can take the English Preparatory School at EMU. Duration — 1–2 semesters. Cost — $3,120/year. After completion you start studying without taking IELTS.
Photos
You will need 4–6 color photos for documents (visa, student ID, registration). Requirements:
- Size: 35×45 mm or 50×50 mm (depends on the form)
- White background, matte paper
- Face fully visible, no tinted glasses or headwear
- Not older than 6 months
Motivation letter
A motivation letter (Statement of Purpose) is your chance to tell about yourself and explain why you chose EMU. Recommended structure:
- Introduction — who you are and which program you are applying to
- Academic background — what subjects you enjoy and your achievements
- Why EMU — what attracted you to the university and Cyprus
- Personal qualities — why you are a good fit for the chosen major
- Conclusion — your goals and expectations from studying

Recommendation letters

- Certificate of no criminal record — for the residence permit (not always required)

International passport for parents
If you plan for your parents to visit you, they will also need an international passport. Russian citizens can stay in Northern Cyprus visa-free for up to 30 days, citizens of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan — up to 60 days.

- Do documents need to be notarized?
- For EMU, a notarized English translation is enough. An apostille is not required for most CIS countries.
- What if I haven't received my certificate yet (grade 11)?
- You can submit a study certificate with current grades and provide the certificate later. EMU accepts conditional admission.
